how can i restart the desktop ( vnc)

can you please tell me the command that will help me to restart the vnc without restarting the ubuntu server.

Currently there is no easy and clean solution to do this, mainly because there are multiple processes involved and their shutdown states are exactly clean.

We are moving to a new architecture this year, which hopefully will enable this easily.

Can i have any update on this , cause my clients are facing serious problem cause, by mistake they switch user instead of login/logout/login they mistakely ofter do login/switch user and then they are not able to connect to the server using vnc player, as it shows connection refused by the server. And to resolve this I need to restart the server to get the connection back.

Please reply ASAP.

Sorry. The new architecture will be used for coming 18.04 version. For previous versions, restarting is still the best bet.
