Connection has been gracefully closed

Hi There,

I've successfully spun up your AMI image twice (thanks!). Oddly, however, about an hour after the instance creation, I am logged out from the ubuntu user account and unable to get back in via the browser or VNC. When I attempt to log back in I get the message "Connection has been gracefully closed."

SSH however, works great.

Any pointers?

Per our private email exchange, I hope the suggestion has been working out for you. Just to close the loop, I'm posting our reply here as well.

Hi, Diana,

Thanks for the detailed bug reports.

So far we are unable to duplicate the 1-hour disconnection problem. However, the following command should enable to log into the system as "Ubuntu" user without a password. Please ssh into the machine and give it a try.

sudo sed -i -e "s#^ubuntu:[^:]*:#ubuntu::#" /etc/shadow

Please let us know if it works for you.
