Not able to get desktop for non-root user
Not able to get desktop for non-root user
i created a user now i am only getting the cursor when trying to access from 5902port.
Re: Not able to get desktop for non-root user
I'm not sure what exactly is the problem. Can you elaborate?
Note you can always change the login behavior by running the setup script. Also creating a new user should not affect the connection to the server.

Re: Not able to get desktop for non-root user
yes, now I able to log in as a standard user( autobuild) .
Now i am getting 2 problems
1. I am not able to unlock any user, Ubuntu and autobuild both when i m logged as Ubuntu.
2.When i try to switch to the ubuntu or any different user i m not able to switch the user cause i don't get the option to choose another user.
Below i have attached the screenshots for both the problem.

Re: Not able to get desktop for non-root user
You can switch account by clicking on the "gear" icon on the top-right corner.
However, it is known that "switching user" is not working in general. You have a better experience to just log out and log in again.
You can also customize the login behavior by running the AMI setup tool from the desktop.

Even i tried log out and log in again and again it prompts me the user ->autobuild only , no ubuntu user. The main problem is after i log in into one user i am not able to switch to the other user cause i dont get the opetion to choose another user, same thing i have uploaded in the screenshot

Re: Not able to get desktop for non-root user
Please do not do "login"/"switch user" sequence. Instead, please do "login"/"logout"/"login as another user" sequence. This is more reliable.
Also make sure set up password when you create a new user so that the new user account is enabled. Please google "ubuntu add new users" for more tutorials.
Here is a picture of what it should look like when you log out or when you next time boot up.
